ASHAMPSTEAD PARISH COUNCIL
MINUTES OF AN EXTRAORDINARY MEETING OF THE PARISH COUNCIL HELD IN THE JUBILEE HALL ON TUESDAY 26 APRIL 2016 AT 7.00 P.M.
Present: Councillors T Butcher (Chairman), C Butler, A Dick, A Jeffrey and R Butler
In attendance: P Thompson (Clerk), M Pettitt (Applicant’s agent) and S Baldwin
Declaration of Interests: None
Planning Application: 16/00784/HOUSE – Proposed detached cart shed, store and home office above at Straight Ash, Ashampstead Common
After a short discussion, it was agreed by a majority vote that an objection should be submitted on the grounds that the proposed new two storey building is sited in an obtrusive position, being very close to the border of the neighbouring property and the public rights of way on this part of the ancient commons in the AONB, and therefore not in accordance with WBC’s planning guidance.
It was also agreed that the need for the home office was questionable having regard to the fact that the large extension granted on the main house in the previous year had included a study on the ground floor and one on the first floor.
It was accepted that a single storey building would have been more appropriate to the proposed site.
The Clerk was asked to pass on these observations to West Berkshire Council.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 7.23 p.m.
